What is Driftistan?
Driftistan is a real-world driving exploration and navigation app. It adds persistent Road Zones, milestones, crews, a real-car garage, and driver-controlled social features to journeys you actually make.
Is Driftistan a street-racing or speed game?
No. Speed, fastest times, and aggressive manoeuvres do not improve Road Zone standing. Progress is designed around verified distance, repeat passes, distinct days, exploration, and normal road-legal journeys.
Can Driftistan navigate without internet?
You can prepare territory packs while connected. Offline availability depends on which map and routing resources were downloaded. Offline data cannot know every live closure, incident, restriction, or traffic change. See the offline navigation guide.
Which Android versions are supported?
The current phone and car packages target Android 6 and newer. Installation does not guarantee every feature: Android System WebView, GPS hardware, graphics, sensors, memory, storage, firmware, and permissions still matter. The download page publishes the current requirement for each release.
Can I use Driftistan on an Android car head unit?
A separate car-display package is available for compatible units. It uses a more focused interface and includes device compatibility reporting. Read the car navigation guide before installing.
How are Road Zones claimed?
An eligible journey contributes verified activity to zones it crosses. Standing uses distance in the zone, separate eligible passes, and distinct active days. A claim is an in-app achievement only and grants no legal ownership, priority, or access.
Can I join a driving crew or nearby drivers?
Yes. Drivers can create or join crews and deliberately enable eligible online presence. Visibility and public profile settings remain under driver control. Road Heat uses delayed grouped activity rather than exposing a person's exact live path.
What is stored in the real-car garage?
The garage holds vehicle profiles, your active journey car, and optional watermarked media. A Driftistan watermark records app provenance; it does not independently prove legal ownership of the vehicle.
Does installing the app start raw navigation training?
No. Navigation Improvement Sampling is separate and off by default. The current consent, capture limits, fields, retention, and deletion controls are described in Safety & Privacy and the Terms.
How do app updates work?
Public release manifests list the current Android version, package, file size, minimum Android level, release notes, and integrity hash. Supported installations can check for later releases in the app, or you can use the public download page.
Is the app free?
The current public release is offered as free early access. Future plans or availability may change; the download page is the source of truth for the currently published release.
What should I do before driving?
Set the destination, download needed map areas, mount the device, and arrange the HUD while parked. Follow road signs, closures, authorities, the vehicle manufacturer's guidance, and all local device-use laws.
